Mr. Potter’s Weekly Update

Good Tuesday morning MCS friends and families.  Did anyone else get thrown off having an extra long weekend? We woke up thinking it was Monday, but left happy that it’s another short week! There is lots going on at MCS, and your chance to read all about it can be found in Mr. Potter’s weekly update. Click here for a direct link.

One of the many things you will find in this weeks update is an upcoming fundraiser happening on Friday, October 13th. MCS will be participating in a fundraiser for Heavenly Hats Foundation, which donates brand new head wear to cancer patients and hospitals through the United States. Since 2001, over 3,000,000 hats have been donated nationwide to patients of all ages. This year this fundraiser has a personal connection as we have a student and staff member currently battling cancer. So how does the fundraiser work? This Friday, students and staff are being asked to donate $1, or any amount they are able, for the ability to wear their favorite hat to school for the day. Please be sure to share with your friends of MCS to help spread the word on this fundraiser!

As a reminder, we will be holding our monthly PTA meeting tomorrow, Wednesday October 11 at 5pm. We will be discussing the Halloween Party, teacher requests, potential fundraisers and more. We’d love for you to join us! New faces and ideas are always welcome.

Good afternoon MCS friends and family.  Hope everyone is staying dry! Here is the link to Mr. Potter’s weekly update for this week. There is lots of great information inside, but of importance is a lunch menu change for MCS students only. We will be having an author visit tomorrow for 1-3rd grade students, which will be occurring in the cafeteria/gym. As a result, the kindergartners will be having lunch in their classrooms. Lunch will now be  turkey and cheese on a roll, dragon punch, goldfish crackers, vegetable, applesauce, and milk.

Also, I wanted to take one more moment to express thanks to #TruMooMilk and #ThanksPTOToday for supplying us with some yummy chocolate milk during our school’s Reading Under the Stars event.  During the event, the PTA also had a photo booth with some fun character props for our students to enjoy. If you have taken any photos of that night, please consider sharing with us, we’d love to see them! Use #MCSPTAStars on your social media account when sharing them, or put them in the comments here. Mr. Potter’s Weekly Update 1/30/17

Good Monday MCS families!

Can you believe February is just a couple days away? Does it seem like this year has been flying by to anyone else? As February approaches, so does the potential for more snow and colder temperatures. Remember to dress your kiddos in layers, and in particular snow pants, hats, mittens/gloves.

Mr. Potter’s Weekly Update has lots of great information. Reminder that Fridays in February will be Spirit Days. This coming Friday, February 3rd is “Wear your favorite sports team” day. Students are encouraged to wear shirts, hats, sweaters etc. showing off their favorite sports team.

An important part of the PTA is being advocates for our students and school, and sometimes for the PTA itself. There will be public hearing on a new bill sponsored in part by our own Rep. Anne-Marie Mastraccio, that would make all PTAs in Maine tax exempt. If you can’t make it to the hearings this Wednesday, please feel free to email or call our representatives to show support for this bill.

Thanks again to all the families that joined us for our first family movie night, we had over 100 people in our gym/cafeteria to enjoy The Secret Life of Pets! If you went to the movie night, we’d love your feedback. What did you like, what would you change, any thoughts or ideas are welcome! Just leave us a comment here, message us on Facebook, or send an email to mcsptame@gmail.com Watch for flyers and more information on our next movie night which will be occurring in March.

Mr. Potter’s Weekly Update 1/9/17

Happy Monday MCS families! Here is the most recent Weekly Update from Mr. Potter. mcs-weekly-update-1-9-16

A friendly reminder- dress your kiddos in layers, with hats, gloves/mittens, snow pants, and boots as the temperatures have been brutal in the morning, but change during the day. Kiddos will go outside unless the temperature is under 18 degrees.

Another friendly reminder- we have our monthly PTA meeting this Wednesday, January 11, 2017 from 5-6:30. Childcare will be available! We’d love for anyone to come here what we have been up to and what we are working on. Also, if you are interested in an officer position, become a member now. In order to be qualified for a position, you must be a PTA member for 2 months. Keep an eye on our website and Facebook page in the coming weeks for the roles and responsibilities of the officer positions as well as committee opportunities.

Snow day reminder

Do you think we will have a snow day tomorrow? How about a delay? It seems even the meteorologists aren’t quite sure yet how much snow we will be getting in our neck of the woods.

Since there is the possibility of enough snow to cause some type closure, make sure you are signed up to receive instant alert messages from Superintendent Mr. Theoharides. To learn how to set this up, or to check where you have signed up to receive these alerts visit this page on the school’s website.

Also- refresh yourself with the policy for school closings and where else you may find the information. Mr. Theoharides put out a letter on the schools website identifying the several ways you can find out whether there is a delay or cancellation of school throughout the season. Click here to read the letter.

Along with the areas noted by Mr. Theoharides, remember to check our Facebook page also as we will post the information as well. Have a great Sunday evening!
